Before the Arab-Israeli wars of the 1960s, Dr. Walvoord maintained that Israel would win more land and power. He saw God’s plan for the end-time begin to unfold as the Palestinian-Israeli conflict became the focus of NATO and Western leaders. In addition, he sensed that weapons of mass destruction would proliferate and force the West into preemptive military strikes. The need for oil would require massive military intervention to protect the oil fields of the Middle East. Viewing current events through the lens of biblical prophecy, he believed it was evident that soon—very soon—the world would be engulfed in a terror never before imagined.
